First, I would like to reflect on my participation in the presentation by Serdar
Begnazarov on Super Computers and Artificial Intelligence. Serdar
Begnazarov is a Principal Engineer at Cerebras originally from Turkmenistan.
The presentation was informative and motivational. He shared about his
journey and the tips on how he received a life-changing fellowship
opportunity- it was highly appreciated by the audience.

This blog post I want to dedicate to how WES influenced my progression and
desire to explore programming. Before joining WES Turkmenistan, I felt far
away from engineering and AI spheres and was convinced that I would never
dedicate my time or soul to programming or other related fields.

I joined WES Turkmenistan due to my passion for women empowerment and
promoting the gender equality. At first, I was involved more in organizational
moments and saw myself as a member who could contribute by coordinating
a particular working group, organizing events, and raising awareness of the
importance of joining the WES.

However, a few days earlier, I noticed a major change in myself…
Before I describe this change, I would like to share my vision of the
importance of joining the WES.

WES is a civil society platform for any woman of Turkmenistan to come up
and show the work she is doing, no matter its scale, in present it an informal
and interactive way. It is an opportunity for networking with potential
colleagues, donors, or just future good friends.

WES enables women to be determined that their role in society exceeds the
role they are currently keeping. Being involved in civic activism does not make
them less of a woman, wife, daughter, or any other role they choose to be; it
only increases their potential, gives them a chance to reinforce their economic
condition and enhance IT skills and their career, which will have only positive
impact on their families too.

Furthermore, WES undoubtedly and continuously welcomes men to be
actively engaged in WES activities and initiatives, and our range of male
volunteers vividly proves this.

Coming back to my recent major change in myself, a few days earlier, I found
out my sudden high interest in programming. I caught myself thinking that I
wanted to either learn it through various available courses or even get a new
bachelor’s degree in this sphere. No matter which I chose, I decided that
programming would be an inevitable skill that would accompany me during my
life journey.

I envision that in our century, being equipped with at least basic programming
skills will enable me to keep up with the digitalization of the rapid world. And I
wanted it from the bottom of my heart. For this, I thank WES for pushing me, a
young woman, to explore digitalization skills, programming, and for offering a
platform with free relevant courses.

Me, who joined WES to fulfill my activism in the civil society sphere, with an
intention of coordinating a working group and sharing my experience,
eventually brought me either a new future major or just a valuable, necessary
programming skill.

This was a brief reflection on my sudden new interest in programming, which I
was always convinced would never be part of myself…😊
